Research & Development Laboratory

A New Scientific Approach to Handle Complexity

The Research &Development Laboratory of EPITA (LDRE) is made up of 7 research professors, 4 PhD students, 1 research engineer, 1 administrative manager and about 25 students. At the core of LDRE's core competencies, we find: teaching, research and development.

Research

The laboratory leads its research activity on two foci determined by its research professors areas of specialization:

Calculus Language &System comprises of:

  • Generic programming
  • Transformation of programs
  • Scientific numeric calculus
  • Software engineering
  • Decision diagrams
  • Professional languages
  • Split systems

Probabilistic Systems &Shapes Identification deals with the following:

  • Automated learning
  • Classification
  • Shapes identification
  • Model checking within Calculus Language &System
  • Image processing: this activity leads to publications in both academic conferences and journals

LRDE's research contributes to EPITA's reputation in the research world and allows it to form both relationships and collaborations with laboratories, engineering schools and universities at large such as Paris VI, Paris XI or Tlcom Paris.

The research can also be conducted in collaboration with partners from within the industry. The latter comes to life through subcontracts and special projects from scientific consulting services to full solutions in research and development.

...& Development

Research at LRDE is never far from development, be it internal projects or research services. Laboratory projects reside at the heart of these interests:

  • Oleana is an image processing library (both standard and high definition)
  • Vaucanson is a strong environment which manipulates all forms of robots in a flexible way
  • Transformers allows the transformation of C++ programs (i.e. optimization)
  • SPOT focuses on automatic verification of protocols through model checking
